Race Day Events – Burra Yacht Race 2025
Get ready for a day of fun, friendly competition, and community spirit at the iconic Burra Yacht Race! Whether you’re racing, cheering from the banks, or just here for the laughs, there’s something for everyone. Here’s how the day will unfold:
🕐 1:00 PM – Junior Race (Under 12)
Little legends hit the water first!
Watch the future of Burra yacht racing take on the creek with creativity and courage. Parents, prepare to cheer.
🕑 2:00 PM – Senior Race (Under 16)
Our senior skippers bring the heat and the homemade vessels. Expect some real talent – and maybe a few unexpected sinkings.
🕒 3:00 PM – Ladies’ Event
It’s all class and a little chaos as our leading ladies launch into action. Grace, grit, and good humour guaranteed.
🕞 3:20 PM – Tug of War
Time to swap boats for brawn! Grab your mates and dig your heels in – bragging rights are on the line in this land-based showdown.
🕟 4:30 PM – Open Event
No age limits, no rules (well… a few). The grand finale pits all comers against each other in the ultimate test of boat-building brilliance and survival instincts
🕟 5;00 PM – Presentations
Join as we present the awards winners of all the different catigories along with cash and great prizes kindly donated by our sponsors.
We will continue onto the evening with live music to close the end of the day

Boat Race Rules – Quick Summary
Vessel Requirements:
Max Size: Boats must be no larger than 2m long total area.
Sail: Must include at least 1m² of sail (triangle shape allowed).
Power: Paddle-powered only — no motors or wind assistance beyond your sail.
Safety First:
No sharp edges, spikes, or dangerous fittings allowed.
All participants must wear a life jacket that meets Australian Standard.
Other Notes:
Participants under 16 must have parental consent.
Creativity encouraged, but safety comes first!
